Juice Pouch Purse

I have a recent fascination with upcycling and/or recycling items.  I saw a particular pin where someone had made one of those shopping bags out of those juice pouches that look like this.

Well if you know me.  I HAD to make a purse out of them.
I have this book

And I like this particular purse pattern because it uses a zipper and it has those cute little pockets on the end of the purse which work so great for your cell phone or little odds and ends.

The juice pouches are a little interesting to work with and I modified the pattern a little bit but overall I'm happy with my conversation piece handbag.  I almost forgot.  There are 35 juice pouches in this handbag.  My family was collecting for a while!

Next blog post I'll show you the same purse pattern only made out of an upcycled mens suit jacket and vest.

Upcycled Trench Coat Purse

Hello All,

I'm new to the blogging world.  I mainly started this blog so that I could pin pictures of my sewing creations to Pinterest.  Are you all in LOVE with Pinterest?  I am.  I currently have 4,666 pins. SCARY!  722 which are on my Sew many purses and bags board.......I am in love with making purses.  Which brings me back to pinning pictures of my sewing creations.  I'm in LOVE with the bag I finished this morning which started out as you guessed it, the trench coat in the left picture.

I used the Sew Daily Dahlia Purse pattern with a few changes.  See the Dahlia Purse pictured below.
You can buy the Dahlia pattern here.  http://www.interweavestore.com/dahlia-purse

Some people have asked me what changes I made to the purse pattern.

First, I didn't make the side pockets that the pattern calls for.  I used the already made trench coat pockets because I loved the big buttons and I wanted to keep them.  Here is a picture of the finished side of the purse using the pockets.
Secondly, the pattern called for one internal pocket but I put in two. I also put in snap closures because there is nothing I hate more than my stuff falling out of the pockets of my purse. (Here you can see one pocket)
I also put feet on the bottom of my purse to try to protect the fabric when I set it down everywhere.

Lastly, I put a closure over the top to prevent it from flopping open if I stuffed it too full of stuff which I have a tendency to do sometimes.

Do you like my latest upcycling project?
