Upcycled Trench Coat Purse

Hello All,

I'm new to the blogging world.  I mainly started this blog so that I could pin pictures of my sewing creations to Pinterest.  Are you all in LOVE with Pinterest?  I am.  I currently have 4,666 pins. SCARY!  722 which are on my Sew many purses and bags board.......I am in love with making purses.  Which brings me back to pinning pictures of my sewing creations.  I'm in LOVE with the bag I finished this morning which started out as you guessed it, the trench coat in the left picture.

I used the Sew Daily Dahlia Purse pattern with a few changes.  See the Dahlia Purse pictured below.
You can buy the Dahlia pattern here.  http://www.interweavestore.com/dahlia-purse

Some people have asked me what changes I made to the purse pattern.

First, I didn't make the side pockets that the pattern calls for.  I used the already made trench coat pockets because I loved the big buttons and I wanted to keep them.  Here is a picture of the finished side of the purse using the pockets.
Secondly, the pattern called for one internal pocket but I put in two. I also put in snap closures because there is nothing I hate more than my stuff falling out of the pockets of my purse. (Here you can see one pocket)
I also put feet on the bottom of my purse to try to protect the fabric when I set it down everywhere.

Lastly, I put a closure over the top to prevent it from flopping open if I stuffed it too full of stuff which I have a tendency to do sometimes.

Do you like my latest upcycling project?
